Jason Breen was a detective from the Seattle Police Department in charge of the William Kern case.
[edit] Season 1
Jason visited the Trager house and said that bones were found near where Kyle was found. Nicole Trager said that Kyle could never have killed anyone and Jason agrred as there was skin under the fingernails implying a struggle, and Kyle was found uninjured.
Later, Jason showed Kyle a picute of the key card in hopes it would jog his memory. It didn't. Nicole promised to keep trying.
While home alone with Stephen, Nicole saw the report that confirmed the bones in the woods were that of the missing professor William Kern. Nicole asked Jason why she wasn't informed. Jason replied that a junkie was found with the murder weapon, so the case was closed and no connection was found between Kern and Kyle.
Later, Jason came to the hospital after Kyle's collapse with his supposed real parents, David and Julie Peterson.
