Brian Taylor was a "friend" of Adam Baylin's. He was later revealed to have been working undercover for William Kern and later alongside Julian Ballantine. He was a member of the Latnok Society until Latnok found out that Taylor had secretly been conducting his own experiment at Zzyx without their knowledge. He was stripped of his affiliation after he was discovered to have been working for his own self interest for years.

[edit] Before Season 2
Brian supposedly took a picture of Adam and his girlfriend Sara Emerson at some point no later than June of 1982.
Brian took DNA from Sara and used it to create a clone who is now known as Jessi. In doing this, he technically became her biological father.
Brian worked closely with Adam Baylin as he worked hard on 781227 at Zzyzx in 1992. Adam considered terminating the project if this one didn't go well and Brian insisted that he not give up.
Brian and Adam left to check on 781227 where they were stopped by William Kern. He claimed that because of Adam's connection to the experiment, he wasn't unbiased and was being replaced as head of Zzyzx.
Brian and Adam were being led down a hallway by armed guards until Brian lunged for a lever, separating Adam from the rest of the group, allowing him to escape. It was then revealed that it was an act and that Brian was secretly working undercover for William Kern and would continue to work undercover for the next fifteen years.

After Adam Baylin's collapse from tripping over a table, Brian came over to make sure he was okay. Adam introduced him to Kyle as a friend who brings him useful information from the outside world. Following Adam's supposed assassination, Brian forbade Tom Foss from retaliating against Zzyzx. Tom did it anyway. Adam Baylin had been shot by a Zzyx agent who found the location of his mansion.
Kyle decided to return to the Tragers, so Brian pretended to be the Petersons lawyer and lied and said that the Petersons died in a car accident. He also lied and said in the five years Kyle was missing, Adam Baylin had taken him in and taught him math, physics, science, etc. Brian gave Kyle Adam's ring and wished him luck before leaving Seattle.
Kyle later had flashbacks while wandering through the ruins of Zzyzx headquarters, where he was beginning to think that the "Don't trust Foss" note from Baylin was wrong. Soon, Kyle understood that it was Brian Taylor who altered the message against Foss so that he wouldn't be found out as Adam betrayer.
Brian later came to Julian Ballantine's office at Madacorp, angered to see that he had lost his Latnok ring and that he, too, had a ring. He told him that the importance of that ring to the Latnok Society is larger than Ballantine could imagine.
Brian stayed at Madacorp to oversee the test of CIR on the captured Tom Foss. He told Ballantine about Foss' family before Tom began to feel pain from the machine. When Tom's condition worsened, Emily Hollander asked Ballantine to stop the test. Taylor agreed and told Julian that Tom had had enough. However, Ballantine was determined to test the full capacity of the machine, stating that Kyle's mind was far stronger than Foss, and decided to go on with the process.
Brian told Ballantine that he would only be able to extract 10 percent of Kyle's knowledge before his brain would fry. Ballantine told him he would settle for one percent. Later, Brian went inside to tell Tom Foss that it's his fault that Ballantine was going to strap Kyle into CIR. Suddenly, Tom got an arm loose and began to strangle Brian and said to him "you are the traitor and I'll never help you." until the guards came in and restrained Tom.
Brian returned to plead with Kyle to give Ballantine what he wanted as fighting back could kill him. Kyle refuses. Brian reminds him that everything he did was so Kyle could reach his potential. Later, Brian observes that CIR is killing Kyle, but Ballantine has him removed. After Madacorp is blacked out and Ballantine is arrested, Brian shows up at Jessi's hospital room and offers to tell her everything about Sara.
Brian took legal guardianship of Jessi after paternity test proved he was her father, although Kyle believed the test was faked. Nicole confronted Brian after Jessi was filmed exposing her abilities and Brian admitted he didn't know how to control Jessi. He came to the Tragers for help, returning Adam Baylin's Latnok ring to Kyle as an olive branch, revealing that he, Adam, and Ballantine's father were members of the Latnok Society.
After returning from another night of training, Brian confronted Jessi and told her that he had big plans for her and her abilities before telling her to get some rest.
